The cost of a court process consists of two parts: the court fee, whose amount is set by law, and the lawyer’s fee, which depends on the complexity of the case. We explain how much going to court costs in 2026 and what the price of legal services is based on.

Court costs are the court fee plus the costs of legal assistance (Art. 133 of the CPC). In 2026 the court fee is calculated from the subsistence minimum of UAH 3,328: for an individual on a property claim it is 1% of the claim value (a minimum of UAH 1,331.20). The cost of a lawyer’s services is individual — so a correct amount is named only after assessing the case.

What court costs consist of

Under Article 133 of the Civil Procedure Code, court costs consist of the court fee and the costs related to hearing the case. The latter include the costs of professional legal assistance, as well as of engaging witnesses, specialists, translators and conducting expert examinations. So when a lawyer says “price from…”, they mean the final amount depends on the volume of work in the specific case.

How much the court fee is in 2026

The court fee is calculated from the subsistence minimum for able-bodied persons — as of 1 January 2026 this is UAH 3,328. The main rates for a statement of claim:

“CV” is the claim value, i.e. the sum of your demands. For a property claim the fee is calculated as a percentage, but no less than the minimum and no more than the maximum shown in the table.

ImportantExempt from the court fee are claimants in cases on recovery of wages, child support and compensation for harm to health. In addition, if you win the case, the court fee and the costs of the lawyer can be recovered from the defendant.

How much lawyer services cost

Unlike the court fee, a lawyer’s fee is not fixed by law — it is formed by the market and depends on several factors:

  • the complexity and category of the case — a family dispute, debt recovery or a commercial conflict require different volumes of work;
  • the instance — support in the first, appellate or cassation instance;
  • the scope of services — only preparing the claim or full “turnkey” representation;
  • the payment format — per stage, hourly or a fixed sum for the case.

That is why the exact price is named after reviewing the case: the lawyer assesses the prospects, the volume of work and only then sets the cost.
